Racism in Schools
African American boys experience racism as early as first, second, and third grades. Research demonstrates that boys stop raising their hands by the time they sit in their third grade seats because teachers ignore them. The students teachers acknowledge are white girls, white boys, black girls, and finally black boys. At the time of this study, Latino students were not a part of the equation. With other ethnic children in the nation's schools, are black girls and boys still last in being selected by their teachers? Professor and researcher, Dr. Sharoni Little, and Christian Educator, Dr. La Verne Tolbert , expose the present-day teacher bias of young black boys in schools, including and especially private Christian schools.
